European Tyre Rankings - Top 5

We witnessed some changes in February 2014 on the European tyre market. An opportunity for us to present you how things have evolved since January 2014.

The goal of the European Tyre Rankings is to inform you about which tyre brands are the most popular in various European countries. The data is collected directly from our price comparison services in the following countries:

We list the 5 most popular brands in the “Car” category for each of our websites.

To achieve these rankings, we focused on the 5 most popular brands in 8 European countries:

Note that this classification does not take into account the size of the market, but rather the manufacturing ranks for each country.

TOP 5 MOST POPULAR TYRE BRANDS IN FRANCE – MICHELIN, AGAIN AND AGAIN

The unbeatable Michelin remains at the top of the ranking for the fourth consecutive month. Continental and Hankook did not move an inch. Bridgestone takes back its 3rd place to the detriment of Goodyear. We are now looking forward to know if holidaymakers will favour cheap tyre brands next summer. Otherwise, we will wait for next winter to see Nokian come back on the front of the stage.

TOP 5 MOST POPULAR TYRE BRANDS IN GERMANY – UNBELIEVABLE BUT TRUE… MICHELIN IN FRONT OF CONTINENTAL

We were the first ones to be surprised. According to our price comparison website’s data in Germany, Michelin has been more searched than Continental. This is the first time we see a French brand overtaking a German one in our ranking. However, Dunlop remains a very popular brand in Germany and makes its come back with a very good 3rd place. However, Bridgestone loses ground in favour of Hankook.

TOP 5 MOST POPULAR TYRE BRANDS IN THE UK – NOTHING MOVES

British consumers appear to be very stable. In fact, if we base ourselves on the 4 previous months, we find the exact same brands. A good victory for Continental in front of Michelin. It is its third consecutive month on the highest step of the podium. Pirelli seems to be the “French Hankook”, particularly attached to its 5th place. Goodyear and Bridgestone remain neck and neck.

As Michelin and Bridgestone start to get used to be at the top of the ranking, Continental has lost 4 places in just a couple of months. Pirelli takes a very good 3rd position, the first time in our rankings.

Bridgestone seems to be a popular brand in Spain. In fact, during the three previous months we have seen that Bridgestone is the second most visited brand just before the undefeatable Michelin. However, Continental appears to struggle on the Spanish market. As for Goodyear, the brand manages to keep a European influence in the top 5.

For this second month of the year we can see very few changes in Portuguese consumers’ behaviours. Continental hounds Michelin to the detriment of Bridgestone. Goodyear and Pirelli are at the bottom of this ranking.
