The Swiss Touring Club: 2015 summer tyre test

posted in: Our analysis | 0

The Swiss Touring Club (TCS) has, again this year, published a summer tyre test. Tyrecomp evaluates the most performing and the most reliable tyres.

Comparison of 33 tyres with two different dimensions

The test has put to the test 33 summer tyres: 16 tyres with dimensions of 185/60 R14 82H and 19 tyres with dimensions of 205/55 R16 91V.

The TCS experts “have determined and evaluated the behaviour of tyres undergoing tests on different surfaces, with wet and dry roads. The experiments also evaluate the behaviour of the tyres in terms of noise, fuel consumption, wear and tear, resistance at high speed and endurance.”

From this test, the tyres have been classified into five categories:

  • Excellent: the tyre satisfies all the test criteria at a superior level;
  • Highly recommended: the tyre satisfies all the decisive criteria for safety and environment;
  • Recommended: the tyre presents slight shortcomings in certain criteria;
  • Recommended with some reservations: the tyre has notable shortcomings in certain criteria;
  • Not recommended: the tyre has serious shortcomings.
